About MDAG

What is MDAG?

The Malaysia Digital Acceleration Grant (MDAG) aims to accelerate the growth of Malaysia Digital Status companies in the commercialisation and expansion stages, positioning them as regional leaders in the digital economy.

Core Intent

Encourage – Promote strategic, high-growth, high-impact activities in digital focus areas to strengthen the ecosystem.
Accelerate – Drive expansion and enhancement of operations through technology adoption and continuous innovation.
Ensure – Build competitive, sustainable companies that showcase Malaysia as a digital powerhouse.

Incentive Amount

MDAG is open to both local and majority foreign-owned companies incorporated in Malaysia.

Local-Owned Companies

Funding: Up to 70% of total cost or up to RM5 Million whichever is lower.

Duration: Up to 3 years.

Foreign-Owned Companies

Funding: Up to 70% of project cost or RM5,000,000 (whichever is lower).

Must be registered and operational in Malaysia.

Duration: Up to 3 years.

Strong brand name and market reputation.
Demonstrated expertise in the field.
Industry influence through awards, recognitions, or leadership.

Local spending and capital growth.
Return on investment and measurable benefits to Malaysia.
Spill-over effects to local ecosystem and value chain.

Revenue performance and export market reach.
Job creation: number, type, and technical exposure for locals.
For local companies: emphasis on regional/global expansion.
For foreign companies: focus on establishing new Malaysia Digital activities.

Building industry linkages and partnerships.
Establishment of Centres of Excellence.
Training programmes for fresh graduates and hiring of skilled employees.
Collaboration with tertiary institutions or academies for training and knowledge transfer.

Eligibility Criteria

Incorporated in Malaysia under the Companies Act 1965 or the Companies Act 2016.
Minimum paid-up capital of RM50,000.00.
Must be in operation for at least one (1) year.

Must be an MSC Malaysia or Malaysia Digital (MD) Status company.
Alternatively, the applicant must obtain MD Status approval within the grant period.
Must maintain MSC/MD Status throughout the grant period (12 months or as specified).

To have your application considered, your company's SSM (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia) profile must show a digital business presence. Your application will be rejected if no digital presence is stated.

Technology-related: Your SSM profile must state that your company is technology-related; and/or
Malaysia Digital alignment: You must be able to demonstrate that your company's activities are aligned with the Malaysia Digital promoted sectors and technology enablers.

Knowledge workers: job categories, number of jobs, qualifications, salary range, experience.
Capital & operational expenditure related to MD activities.
Financial projection aligned with the grant period.

Additional details (if requested): technology, R&D, revenue, export, spill-over benefits.

Past Grants & Compliance

Documentation proving completion of past MDEC/government-funded projects (within the last 5 years).
No overlapping or unresolved issues with previous grants.
